The Emirates ID is a mandatory document for all UAE residents. It gets issued after the visa has been stamped into one’s passport and is valid for the same length of time as one’s visa.

Checking the Application Status of Emirates ID
It is possible to check on the progress of your ID application or renewal after you have

Procedure of getting Emirates ID
The process of applying for a UAE visa also includes applying for an Emirates ID. The cost

1. Entry permission application: Those who have set up a business in the United Arab

images were taken during the initial ID card processing, there will be no need to update them.

was issued by a mainland company, you must submit it to that business, whereas if your visa
was issued by a free zone, you must submit it to the Immigration authority (General
Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs). ID will be provided after visa renewal and
delivered via your nearest Emirates Post office.
Cancellation of Emirates ID
The cancellation of your identification document is a required component of the termination
of your status as a permanent resident. If you want your visa cancelled, you’ll need to give
your card to your respective employer or the immigration authorities.

The first number appears on every card and stands for the country code for the United Arab
Emirates, which is 784. The second number typically corresponds to the year you were born,
however this is not always the case. The last segment is made up of 7 meaningless digits that
were generated at random by the algorithm. The fourth digit is merely one, and it represents a
verification number that can be any number from zero to nine.
The ID number is unique to each individual and will never change. It is final and cannot be
altered. If you quit being a resident of the United Arab Emirates and move out of the country,
the residency card number will remain the same in case you ever decide to return and apply
for residency again.
